Belfast Coeliac Guide

Why a guide?

Once you’re diagnosed with coeliac disease it can often feel like you’ve been landed in a new country with a different language, strange ingredients, and whilst some things may seem familiar they are don’t taste the same anymore. None of this is a bad thing but as a traveller I always did heavy research into a new country and cuisine and adjusting to coeliac life was no different.

Some of us thrive on the challenge of discovering new ways of life - reading ingredients, learning terminology, exploring how food is made; but for some of this can be daunting and overwhelming and end up needing a travel guide. This is no different when navigating a brand new diet that will affect every aspect of your life so I thought that it was natural to think of here as a tour guide for all things gluten free.

Living with coeliac disease is not always easy and it takes time to get your head around a new way of thinking and experiencing the food you consume but once you do you will realise that there is a whole hidden world that is full of delicious eats and a strong community. This is not the end of your relationship with food, this is just the beginning of a new one.
